Vegan, Vegetarian Dining – Many Restaurants Now Offer Healthy Alternatives to Meat

Congrats to Burger King , the only major fast food chain offering a vegan/vegetarian sandwich on it’s menu. The ‘ BK (Burt Kaufman)Veggie Burger’ offered by Burger King at $2.99 has only 3 grams of fat and is quite tasty, if we may say so ourselves. (Tried it at three different locations).   You can ask   other chains for vegetarian or vegan and they’ll  tell you they’ll ‘take the meat out,’   which is one way to do it , but there are more creative and tastier alternatives.  At  Subway, buy the ‘Veggie Delight’ sandwich on multi-grain ‘Honey Oat ‘(our favorite) or regular multigrain bread  and take it home and add some portobello mushrooms and hummus or tahini dressing. Excellent! (You would think that one  of these days Subway will come up with its own real vegan treat like this  )…more @ http://healthfitness.ws   Meanwhile, for those who have never tried vegetarian or, better, vegan, you would be surprised at the taste and  at what some of the smaller chains and single food establishments offer. Just ask any ‘with it’ restaurant and they’ll usually have a vegan or vegetarian dish on their menu, which we find is often better tasting than the other items on the menu.   7.3 Million Americans  ( or 5% of the US Population) now describe themselves as vegetarians (non-meat eaters) and one million vegans (nothing with a face).
